Terms of Service

Last updated: September 10, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of RepoRanker ("we," "us," or "the service") at reporanker.com. By accessing or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service

RepoRanker publishes a public board of open-source repositories discovered via GitHub, sells placement on that board, and offers listings, reviews, and related features. The service may change, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We are not affiliated with GitHub, Inc. Git is a registered trademark; "GitHub" is a trademark of Microsoft / GitHub.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live and, if you are under 18, have permission from a parent or guardian. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and not impersonate others.

User content and license

You retain rights to content you post. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute your user content on and through the service, and to use it in aggregated or de-identified form for operations and improvement.

Reviews, listings, and public profile fields must follow our Rules and Content policy. We may remove or restrict content or accounts that violate them or the law.

Placement and payment

Placement is a payment to occupy a position on the board, ranked by the total amount spent on that repository. It confers position only. It does not change moderation outcomes and does not entitle you to the removal or suppression of any review. Placement starts at $3. There is no subscription and nothing renews. Prices and terms are described on Pricing and in the checkout flow.

Placements do not expire and are not refundable. A placement is permanent until someone spends more than you, and being outbid is not a refund event: you move down the board, never off it. Payments accumulate against the same repository. Where two repositories reach an identical total, the one that reached it first ranks higher. We do not guarantee any level of traffic, clicks, or outcomes from a placement.

You may only place a repository you own on GitHub through your connected account. If a repository is removed from the service, whether by you or by us under the Rules or Content policy, its placement stops being displayed and no refund is due. Every price is public, including the amount paid, on the listing row, on the placement ladder, and in our public API. We may cancel a placement and remove a listing for fraud, chargeback, or a violation of these Terms.

Placement balance

A placement balance is an account balance, denominated in US dollars, that can be spent on placement on this board and on nothing else. Balances exist only because the retired review credit economy was converted once, in one direction, at 25 credits to the dollar. Credits and boosts no longer exist, no activity on the site adds to a balance, and no further balances will be issued.

A placement balance is not money. It cannot be purchased, topped up, refunded, withdrawn, exchanged for cash, or transferred to another person or account, and it has no cash value. Card payment is the only way to add to a placement beyond your balance. Spending a balance is final, and the placement it buys is non-refundable and permanent until outbid on the same terms as any other placement. If we close your account for a breach of these Terms, any unspent balance is forfeited.

Prohibited conduct

You agree not to misuse the service, including: illegal activity, harassment, malware, scraping that overloads the service, circumventing security, reverse engineering except as permitted by law, or reselling access without our consent.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be accurate, complete, or free of harmful code.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, arising from your use of the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility. Our aggregate liability for all claims relating to the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100) or the amount you paid us for the service in that period, except where the law does not allow such a cap (e.g. gross negligence or willful misconduct).

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us and our team against any claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your user content, your use of the service, or your breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the service at our discretion, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms, harms others, or harms the service. You may stop using the service at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive will survive termination.

Governing law; disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, excluding its conflict-of-law rules, unless a different law applies in your jurisdiction by mandatory law. You agree to resolve disputes in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there, subject to any consumer protections that apply in your home jurisdiction.

If the above forum clause is not enforceable for you, mandatory local law may require different dispute resolution.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, where allowed by law.
