About RepoRanker

RepoRanker is a public board of open-source GitHub repositories, and the positions on it are for sale. You add your repo with a short tagline, then pay to put it where developers look. Placement starts at $3. Rank is total dollars spent and nothing else, and every row prints the amount that bought it. A position holds until someone spends more than you, and then you move down rather than off. There is no subscription and no expiry.

How a position works

  • $3 puts a repo on the board. $1 more than the row above you passes it.
  • Payments accumulate, so defending a position costs only the difference.
  • Placement does not expire. Your rank changes when someone outspends you. No renewal or refunds.
  • Every price is public, on the row and on the full ladder.
  • Rows nobody has bought yet sit in a default order until somebody does.

What we are not

RepoRanker is not a replacement for GitHub search and is not affiliated with GitHub, Inc. It is a small discovery surface for repos, and the way onto the top of it is to pay for a spot. We say so on the row rather than burying it.

Built by Jay Campbell

Jay Campbell, founder of RepoRanker

Jay Campbell is a developer and founder who launched RepoRanker in April 2025. He built it because getting a new repo seen means waiting on an algorithm, a curator, or a launch-day crowd, and none of them will tell you the price. RepoRanker does the opposite: one board, a published price on every row, and $3 to get on it.
